there's this implicit idea that if you want stability out of computers & software, you're some sort of reactionary and deeply boring to boot, which is much like the idea that if you don't want buildings to catch fire and collapse on people you're just trying to stifle the field of architecture and oppress the noble spirit of the more exuberant sort of builder.
(not that _wanting_ matters a whole lot here, as far as i can tell. the situation is baked in.)

@brennen One of my pet peeves is when developers feel the need to "refresh" their software's UI. Generally this just means "we moved a bunch of shit around for no particular reason."
IMO it shows a certain level of contempt for your users' investment of time into learning the tool in the first place.
Changes should be meaningful and happen for a reason. If it ain't broke, don't change it.
